Crossing guard cuts

A fifth-grader at Springhill Elementary said he doesn't feel safe walking home with no light or crossing sign at Springhill and San Reliez, and worries about accidents if the crossing guard is cut.

A Springhill parent described speeding, sun glare, and drivers crossing double yellow lines at the uncontrolled crossing, and said her family wouldn't let kids walk without the guard.

The 12-year crossing guard at Springhill/San Reliez described gridlock, drivers in opposing lanes, and blocked crosswalks, asking the Council to reconsider removing her post.
